A new novel of mine! I’ve learn so much since I was writing True Freedom back in NaNo of 2011. Writing technique is coming slowly to me, and I’m learning about story structure and other things.

So this novel is one I am going to stick with. I am very much a plot-first writing. I don’t do well with not knowing where I am going or how it’s going to end. I ponder my ideas long before I start, and then I set it down to a detailed plan with a specific ending.

This is what I am doing with this novel. If I know where to go, I can finish it.

I guess I had better start introducing the story, then. It’s a fantasy novel, a whole trilogy, in fact, though at the moment I am only working on plotting out book 1. This is the basic premise of the whole trilogy – My logline. It’s really hard to boil down into one sentence, but with the help of Jordan Smith on Holy Worlds I managed it.

WORKING TITLE: Curse of the Kingdoms
GENRE: Fantasy
LOGLINE: An adventurous teen who escaped her world’s curse must accept her gift of magic to help a desperate prince who must kill his brother to break the spell.

Now that you know the basic plot, I’ll tell you my plans. I want to start writing the first draft by June 24 – Also my birthday (What better way to celebrate then start a new novel?).

At the moment, I am racing along with NaNo doing world building and all the things to do ready in time. It’s been really fun, and I’ve been doing well.

Once I am started into the story, I may post some excerpts. Stay tuned!

So how you do your plotting? I’m the same, I need to know the story I’m telling and where it’s going but I’m still working on my process.
